2005-'06 USASA National Amateur Cups
MDCVSA Membership: My name is Jesse Rosenthal and I will continue my service as the USASA National Cups Commissioner for the Metropolitan DC-Virginia Soccer Association ("MDCVSA"). My contact information is as follows:
5327 North 5th Street Arlington, VA 22203 (703) 338-6916 (C) (703) 516-0259 (F) va_cup@yahoo.com The initial state qualifying rounds of the USASA National Cups (Men’s Open Cup and Men’s Amateur Cup) will begin no earlier than the weekend of October 15-16, 2005, and could continue through the weekend of December 3-4, 2005 (with any remaining games to be played as early as March 2006). In accordance with the USASA National Cup policies, the home team will be responsible for securing a field for each match (and for all field permit fees). Referee fees will be divided equally between the teams. Match referees will be assigned via the designated assignor for the Cup; the teams are NOT responsible for obtaining referees. For all other Cups (Women’s Open, Women’s Amateur, Men’s Over 30, Women’s Over 30, Men's Under 23, Women's Under 23), the entry deadline will be January 31, 2006. This deadline is deferred to that date because fewer teams historically enter those competitions. Play is expected to begin for those Cups in March 2006. If your team would like to participate in any of the National Cups, your team captain must send to me a completed entry form along with the appropriate entry fee (checks payable to “USASA”) by the established deadline. The entry forms can be found at these links:
http://www.usasa.com/2004ingles/National%20Cups/Open%20Entry%20Final.pdf Amateur Cup and All Others: http://www.usasa.com/2004ingles/National%20Cups/Ama%20Entry%20Final.pdf You should also print off and become familiar with the National Cup Policies, which are found at this link: http://www.usasa.com/2004ingles/National%20Cups/2003-4%20NATIONAL%20CUP%20POLICIES.pdf
USASA Website: http://www.usasa.com/2004ingles/newdownloads.asp The entry fee and entry form for the Open and Amateur Cups (Men’s only) must be sent to me NOT LATER THAN 5:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2005, either by fax or by electronic mail (with the original entry form and check sent by first class mail by that same date and time). The entry fees and forms for all other national cups (Women’s Open, Women’s Amateur, Men’s Over 30, Women's Over 30, Men's U23, Women's U23) must be sent to me NOT LATER THAN 5 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, either by fax or by electronic mail (with the original entry form and check sent by first class mail by that same date and time). I will confirm receipt by electronic mail (or fax, if you do not have access to electronic mail.) It is important that all entry forms be submitted by the deadline, as I will be conducting a public draw (Men’s Open and Amateur Cup) on Wednesday, October 5th, 2005, at 6:00 PM at Rio Grande Restaurant in Ballston/(Arlington, VA). The draw announcement for the other national cup competitions will be announced in early February of 2005. I will maintain the calendar of upcoming deadlines and playing dates at the following State Cup YahooGroup Web Site: ![]() Click to join the MDCVSA National Cup Yahoo! Group This web site will be the vehicle for official communications concerning Cup logistics, although team-to-team communication need not proceed through the Yahoo!Group. If you have any trouble accessing the Yahoo!Group site or other technical difficulties, please let me know. Thank you for your attention and consideration. I look forward to working with you. Best regards, Jesse Rosenthal USASA National Cups Commissioner, MDCVSA
FC Beserkers of the Northern Virginia Soccer League will take on the Aegean Hawks of the Washington Premier League for the right to represent the MDCVSA in the Region I qualifying tournament. The two Region I tournament finalists will represent USASA Region I in the Lamar Hunt U. S. Open Cup. This prestigious national competition will also include teams from the Premier Development Soccer League (PDSL), Pro Soccer League (formerly D-3 Pro League), and A-League, all from the United Soccer Leagues (USL); and teams from Major League Soccer (MLS). For more information on the later rounds of this tournament, visit the USSF Website. Another website that is helpful - but not official! - is http://www.usopencup.com/.
